What Is the NC Need-Based Scholarship?

The NC Need-Based Scholarship is a state grant program administered by the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA). It provides financial aid to North Carolina residents who demonstrate financial need and attend an eligible private nonprofit college or university in North Carolina.

Unlike many state grants that apply only to public schools, this scholarship is specifically designed for students choosing private NC institutions — making it one of the few state programs where attending a private college can make financial sense.

Who Qualifies?

There is no minimum GPA beyond your school's SAP standards.
